In this section we will introduce you how to create Japanese paper texture. Once you have the paper texture, you can use it for background, card, name card, and digital collage.
It is easy to change the color of the texture and you can create various versions of it. This is a very useful texture.
Create a new file sized 800px×600px and set the tool panel color <drawing color#00000/background color#ffffff>.
Apply Cloud Pattern 2 [Filter > Draw > Cloud Pattern 2]
This is how it looks when Cloud Pattern 2 in applied.
Now it is only a cloud pattern texture but it will be more like Japanese paper.
Use filter to create pattern for Japanese paper.
We get fiber like texture by [Filter > Expression > Find Edges].
This is how it looks like when Find Edges is applied.
You can see thin detailed lines are there and make the texture fiber like.
This already looks like Japanese paper but we will do a little more tricks.
Adjust the color slightly lighter.
Set the preference using the example above [Image > Adjust Color > Saturation/Hue].
Blue gray turned beige.
Blur the surface to make it look like Japanese paper.
Set the preference [Filter > Blur > Expression Blur] as shown above.
It is blurred and looks more like Japanese paper.
This is complete.
We will make a different version for this.
Having only one color is boring. Let’s change the color.
Click [Create New Layer Icon] at the bottom of the layer palette and select Bucket Paint.
Color dialog box appears. Choose a color. Click [Draw Mode > Color].

I changed the color to pink.
You can make different colored textures by changing the colors like above.
Now I combined 4 color papers into one.
Once you create the basic Japanese paper texture, you can change it to any colors you like. The texture is very useful. You can make collage or this can be a postcard background.
You can also use Color Correction for adjusting the color.
