How to Create Wood Curved Emblem

In this section we will introduce you how to create wood curving style emblem using Illustrator and Photoshop.

This is a pretty cool design. You might find this type of design in a role playing video game.

We first create the emblem and text in Illustrator and then we will attach wood curving texture in Photoshop. The important technique in this tutorial is the layer style in Photoshop. This is not so difficult. Please try this tutorial.

First, create emblem in Illustrator.

The decent way it to draw it on your own, but we cheat a little this time and use the symbol library.

Open Illustrator and select [Symbol Panel > Click Top-Right > Open Symbol Library > Light Vector Pack]

[Light Vector Pack] panel appears. Drag and drop [Light Vector Panel 14] onto the art board.

(The symbol does not have to be [Light Vector Panel 14]. There are various symbols in the symbol panel. Please choose any symbol you like.)

Once dragged, click [Right Click > Disable Symbol Link].

Copy and inverse the symbol and place it like the example above. Insert any text if necessary.

The emblem part is completed. We will modify it using Photoshop. Copy the symbol.

Paste the emblem created in Illustrator to Photoshop. When asked for the format, select [Pixel].

Activate the pasted layer. Click [Layer > Layer Style > Color Overlay].

Set the dialog box like above. Do not click OK yet.

Check the preview and see how it changed.

The object turned into dark brown which was applied in [Color Overlay]!

Next, activate [Bevel and Emboss] in the [Layer Style]. Set it using the example above.

When you check preview, you can see how it looks like as you adjust. Click OK when you are done.

Bevel Sizzle Soft is applied and now we have the wood curving style emblem!
