In this section we will introduce you how to create the chestnut illustration.
The chestnuts are available. You can use it as an image part to represent the season autumn. We will not use Pen Tool to make it easier for beginners.
This is very easy to do! Let’s see how we can do it!
First, draw the chestnut base.
Select Eclipse Tool, draw a precise circle with Shift + Drag. Set the color brown (#623717) no line.
Deform the precise circle into chestnut.
Select [Direct Selection Tool] and click the anchor point at the bottom. Drag it a little above.
The bottom part of the circle is deformed and we have a cracked circke.
Next, select [Anchor Point Switching Tool] and click the anchor point on top of the circle.
The top anchor point is switched and we have the chestnut base! This is indeed a cute shape.
For later tasks, copy (Ctrl + C) the chestnut and paste (Ctrl + F) to front.
Next, draw a big circle at the bottom of the chestnut. Select the previously pasted chestnut and the circle.
Keep selecting the objects and click [Pathfinder (Window > Pathfinder)].
Next, get rid of the unwanted part of the circle by [Right Click > Ungroup].
Change the color of the bottom part into light brown (#A7784D).
Lastly, add gloss and dots to the chestnut with Eclipse Tool. Please use the example above for color selection.
I added leaves as an accent. This is a very cute illustration and perfect for the autumn season designs.
You could use it for book illustration or seasonal greetings.
We did not use Pen Tool this time and it is easy to do for beginners. Try creating this!
