In this section we will introduce you how to create the abstract line background in Illustrator.
We call this type of abstract designs abstract art. Abstract art is used in various scenes. A good example is Windows backgrounds. It is abstract, beautiful and somehow mysterious too.
This time we will create the abstract art constructed with the classic surface and lines.
First off, we will create basic surface.
Draw lines like above using the Pen Tool. The line shapes do not have to be the same. We will combine them as a surface later. Draw any shapes you like.
Change the color of the lines.
Set the upper line color light blue (#BFE3F7) and the bottom one bright blue (#3D86F9).
Next, click [Object > Blend > Blend Option] and set the step number 1,000.
Select the two shapes on top left drawn in Step01 and click [Object > Blend > Create].
Top left two lines are blended and now we have smooth colored objects.
If they do not blend well, try again with [Object > Blend > Blend Option] and select OK for smooth color.
(Retaled Articles:How to make an opaque to transparent gradation on Illustrator)
Similarly, create blends for other three objects.
Next, set the generate mode for each objects soft light for later tasks. (Open opacity panel and set it soft light).
Expand, rotate and copy the created objects and arrange them randomly. Objects can be placed outside the art board.
The arrangement is the significant aspect. Arrange them nicely so that they look beautiful.
We will create light effects on the object borderline.
Select all the objects (Ctrl + A) and open luster (inside) dialog box [Effect > Stylize > Luster (Inside)]. Set the setting like above in the option panel.
Trim the objects outside the art board.
Create a same sized rectangle as the art board using the Rectangle Tool. Click [Object > Clipping Mask > Create].
Clipping mask is applied and the objects are clipped for the size of the art board.
Next, check [disjoin generate mode] in the opacity panel (window > Opacity).
Paste the rectangle copied in Step09 in front (Ctrl + F). Next, apply blue gradient on the rectangle like the image above.
Blend in the rectangle gradation with the bottom object.
Set the rectangle generate mode [Multiply] and set the opacity 90%. The gradation blended in with the bottom object and the texture improved.
Lastly, draw smooth curved lines with Pen Tool.
You can enhance flat designs by adding lines or some accents.
The design is completed with adding a logo at the end!
We have created the abstract art using transparent surfaces and lines. You have a lot steps to take and the image looks difficult to do, however, this is only accumulation of the basics.
You can do it if you follow the steps correctly. Please make one of your own using this tutorial. By for now.
