Like sepia, some cameras have features to take black and white (monochrome) pictures but there are moments you would like to convert color photos into black and white (monochrome). This technique can be useful in those occasions.
There are different ways to convert pictures into black and white; this time we will introduce you the simplest technique.
Have a color picture ready.
Convert the picture into black and white. A dialog appears after selecting [Image -> Mode -> Grayscale] and select “discard”.
Now the photo is converted into black and white (monochrome).
The photo is now black and white but the tree color is too strong. Let’s adjust it a little.
Select [Image -> Color Correction -> Level] and the slide the slider in the middle to the left a little.
They are the pictures of before and after editing. The trees are slightly brighter and easier to see.
How was it? Wasn’t that simple?
Please note that greyscale displays a photo in black and white which limits you to adjust only the brightness. Be careful it discarded its color information and you cannot edit the photo with color.
