In this section we will introduce you how to create a sepia photo in Photoshop 1. There are various ways to convert pictures into sepia in Photoshop, this time you will learn the simplest technique.
Like black and white (monochrome) pictures, some cameras have pre-installed features to take sepia photos. However there are moments where you would like to convert color pictures into sepia.
Have the picture ready. This time we will use the picture of fallen cherry blossom petals.
Click the “Style” icon in the panel menu. Select [Photo Effect -> Sepia Tone].
Now you have applied sepia tone on the image.
There are many convenient features in Photoshop “Style”. To select another style from the “Style” menu, click Add.
The setting is in default for the first time use. The styles in the initial setting remains when new styles are added.
To adjust the contrast of sepia tone, double click “Effect” in the layer and pop up a layer style dialog. When the Color Overlay is selected, click the color and adjust the contrast.
Now we have successfully converted the color image into sepia.
There are various ways to convert images into sepia in Photoshop. Be creative and explore techniques that fit your style.
We used a flat color image this time, however, some photos may require more adjustments when converted into sepia.
