Create Wood Texture in Photoshop

In this section we will introduce you how to create wood texture in Photoshop.

Wood texture is very useful when making backgrounds. It can be used for various purposes. You could download one but it might be difficult find a color that meets your needs.

There are different techniques to create wood texture. In this tutorial you will learn a very easy one. You can do it in a minute once you know how.

Step01 Choose the Base Color

Start Photoshop and set the canvas size 800 x 600 pixel.

Next, select the paint and background color using the example above. Those colors will be the base color for the wood texture. This time we will make whitish, bright wood texture.

Step02 Filter -> Fiber

Select [Filter -> Generate -> Fiber]

Step03 Fiber Dialog Box

Fiber dialog box pops up, set [Transform] and [Intensity].

By sliding the [Transform] and [Intensity] slider, you can preview the fiber effect. Press OK when you have a desired texture.

(You can minify the preview screen by clicking the “- (minus)” button for a better understanding of the texture as a whole.)

Now we have the wood texture.

It was a very easy technique. You can change the color by adjusting brightness and contrast in the [Color Correction Panel].
